Science wiz or struggling student? Penda Science gives every learner the tools they need to achieve their learning goals. Penda helps teachers differentiate instruction with scaffolded activities for every NGSS performance expectation and Florida SASS and Texas TEKs. As students work through activities, they receive immediate feedback on which questions they got right and which they answered incorrectly so they can focus their learning and build their knowledge. Standards-based assessments and comprehensive reports deliver data to help teachers identify student learning needs, guide Tier 1 class-wide instruction, monitor progress, and track the effectiveness of Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.
I look at the reports. They are very detailed. I can see which students are needing more practice in certain areas. So I can assign more assignments to only those students. So that’s how I’m using it as an intervention.

For differentiation in class, it was really helpful. Because the reality is sometimes that two different kids can equally not do well on a test, but for different reasons. So teachers have struggled with what to review, but can’t be six teachers at once. So Penda really made that accomplishable, so much so that [teachers] said: ‘We want this back! We want this back right now!

We have teachers that use it for incentives, with the different scores. Not necessarily who got the most right, but the most growth, so weekly challenges, which like I said –– most of our kids here are below grade-level reading so to give them an opportunity to be able to beat their old score when they’re not always getting A’s and B’s on tests, they can show that growth which means a great deal to our teachers and kids.

We were specifically looking for some kind of a program that would be able to tailor the program to our Florida standards, and to our district created pacing-guides. We wanted user-friendly things so that teachers didn’t need to take on another thing.
